2 Face Masks You Can Do At Home

Activated Charcoal Face Mask

Activated charcoal is a black powder that is used in beauty and hygiene products to absorb toxins and remove them from the body. To make this face mask mix a small amount of charcoal with double the amount of Aztec clay and enough water to create a thick and smooth consistency. Apply the mask and let the tightening begin! The tightening effect is from the Aztec clay while the charcoal detoxifies the skin. Let it sit for 10 minutes or until desired. Rinse with lukewarm water and proceed as desired. You can purchase activated charcoal and the Aztec clay from Amazon.

Turmeric Face Mask

Turmeric is a bright yellow powder historically used in Asian foods and culture. Turmeric can be found in curry powder, mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Turmeric was used as fabric dye in Asian culture. This is important to know because turmeric has a powerful staining agent which is what drives the lightening effect for dark spots. I put a bottle of turmeric in my medicine cabinet so I can mix it with my face wash from time to time to keep dark spots minimal. I also believe the strong anti inflammatory properties of turmeric helps kill acne causing bacteria. Turmeric is so powerful that when used on the skin you can actually feel a tingling sensation! Below is a recipe that you can try at home if you have just two ingredients!

Mix equal parts turmeric and wet glue until its an even yellow consistency. Please be aware that turmeric will stain any and everything so where clothes you don’t mind messing up. Once you have an even consistency you can apply the mask to the face and neck. You may start to feel a tingling sensation so do not apply on open sores or wounds because it will burn. Let the mask sit until its completely dry and flaky. Rinse with soap and cold water and proceed as desired.
